Primary Years Programme
Indus International School, Pune is an authorized school for the IB PYP curriculum.
At Indus, we strive to meet the needs of all our learners. We appreciate that our students come from a variety of different cultures, backgrounds and experiences, and may bring many different beliefs and expectations to school. At Indus we promote the education of Global Citizens - the journey of learning that begins here will continue for a lifetime.
What is the Primary Years Programme (PYP)?
The PYP is one of three programmes offered by the International Baccalaureate and is designed for students aged 3 to 12. It focuses on the total growth of the developing child, touching hearts as well as minds and encompassing social, physical, emotional and cultural needs in addition to academic development.
The PYP draws on research and best practices from a range of national systems with a wealth of knowledge and experience from international schools to create a relevant, engaging, challenging and significant educational framework for all children.
The PYP fits in perfectly with our school vision: "to prepare 21st century citizens, possessing a strong sense of community with an international perspective, citizens of the world, who think globally and act locally." The curriculum is a balanced blend of five essential elements: concepts, knowledge, skills, attitudes and action. The knowledge component is developed through inquiries into six transdisciplinary themes of global significance :Who We Are, Where We Are in Place and Time, How We Express Ourselves, How the World Works, How We Organise Ourselves and Sharing the Planet. This is supported and balanced by skills and knowledge from the 6 subject areas Language, Mathematics, Science, Social studies, PSPE(Personal, Social and Physical Education) and the Arts towards the development of the whole child.
